Arschloch calmly surveys the hooded figures before turning back to walk into the tavern. On the way up the stairs, Arschloch makes a stop by the bar and grabs the first full bottle available. Walking back towards the stairs and taking a few swigs of the bottle, Arschloch proceeds up the stairs and walks towards the first room on the left. Arschloch enters without knocking, walks over to the sleeping Aryn, and gently shakes her awake. Some manners do exist, despite entering a room unannounced. After Aryn has sufficiently woken, Arschloch motions for her to follow into the other room. Again entering without decorum, Arschloch walks over to the sleeping Frederick and takes one more gulp on the bottle before dumping the rest of the contents onto Frederick's head. Listening to him sputtering awake, Arschloch moves to Unglar's bed and not-so-politely shoves him off.
Once everyone is awake, Arschloch ignores their protesting and informs them of the 4 hooded figures outside in the street. Arschloch is ready for a fight, but for the sake of "playing nice" decides to form a plan of action with the rest of the group (before going out to beat things up). |

"If we wait to strike, we lose the element of surprise. On the other hand, if we strike and it turns out they had no intention of attacking us, we'll have slaughtered some more or less innocent people. At the bare minimum I would suggest we get closer to an exit in case they really are malicious and decide it would be a good idea to burn down this fine establishment."

Listen Checks
The sound of the scrapes of wood upon wood and other movements can be heard from the main floor of the tavern. Aryn can distinctively hear what sounds like something being rolled along the ground. Toementor fucked around with this message on 2015/12/09 at 02:37:39. |

OOC: I don't want to seem like I'm trying to give hints and stuff, but I'm gonna, ofc, but how do you want to go about "investigating" though?
I obviously have no problem with you doing such, but as far as I know you're all still up the top of the staircase (I assume) still trying to listen to what's going on. Toementor fucked around with this message on 2015/12/09 at 10:51:24. |

“Presumably we’ll need to head outside if we want to have any inkling of what’s going on in here, unless anyone has any better ideas.”

"I- I-"
I give up and follow the others down the stairs.

Whilst moving down the stairs you can hear the rolling noises stop, and footsteps leaving the tavern. The room has been emptied of tables and chairs. In the centre of the room there is a man in dark red robes on his knees, whispering. Three paces from him there are three barrels from which leaks a dark syrupy liquid. The liquid runs in such a way as to form a triangle between the barrels.
Beside him stands a man in leather armour, apparently standing guard. |

Frederick voices his Command spell's incantation.
Spell Check Frederick says "Approach" and justs as suddenly as the command was uttered the robed individual stops whatever he was whispering to himself, stands up, and walks 20 paces towards you and stops. Toementor fucked around with this message on 2015/12/16 at 08:54:04. |

OOC: Seeing as you were the one to cast the spell, I would say that you are free to make your next action if you wish.
The man whom was standing guard turns to find his robed accomplice to have moved. You can see he has a broadsword sheathed on his side. |

"Woe!", snarls the robed being. "and woe is you! I know not how you managed, but you have interrupted the ritual to the Many! The destruction of this petty town shall be surely known. It might be too late to finish tonight's ritual, but it's not too late to offer him your blood!" With this said, he draws a dagger from his robe.
Rolling initiative Combat order: Strangers Unglar Frederick Arschloch Aryn The man wearing leather armour runs to the door, opens it, yells "get in here!", and then returns his attention to the party members coming down the stairs. Robed man Attack roll The robed man, dagger now in hand, slashes at Frederick, and manages to find a gap between the fishlike scales of the young Cleric's scalemail. OOC: Now that we've entered combat, we have to follow a more strict posting order, the order being that of the highest initiative rolls, in this instance of combat, at least in terms of PCs, the order is Unglar, Frederick, Arschloch, then Aryn. Each turn per round you essentially get a free action (moving, drinking a potion, etc), and a standard action (swinging or firing weapons, casting a spell, etc). Also, Since you are all still coming down the stairs more or less, and that the robed man in right infront of you, if you were to try to move past him to get to the man closer to the door, you would incur an attack of opportunity. Which basically means that they pretty much get to take an attack at you for free without fear of retaliation. They also make this AoO in your turn, and don't have to wait for their own. |

Unglar pushes past the combat between Frederick his foe, with axe brandished high.
Robed man's Attack of Opportunity The robed man slashes at the rushing Half-Orc going past him, but the studs of Unglar's armour neglect any penetrating power as he continues to charge by towards the man in leather, now unsheathing his broadsword. Unglar Attack roll Unglar's blood-curdling roar fills the tavern, and brings his greataxe down with all his might upon his leather-clad opponent, tearing down through leather, flesh, and bone alike, as he severs the man's off-hand arm clean off, and rips into the underside of his ribcage. Blood spurts from newly created orifices. Despite adrenaline starting to surge, he has a clear shocked look upon his face. |

Frederick Attack roll
With new-found strength, St. Cuthbert looks upon Frederick with his favour, as he cracks his mace upon the skull of his enemy, with a sickening thud. Blood drips from his foes's ears, but he still stands. OOC: All good. Thought that might be the case. Also, should anyone land a killing blow, I'll try not to overtake the narrative too much should you want to describe how you decide how you want to kill a certain foe for each combat - more or less. Within reason or what-have-you, and before the next person in the initiative order posts. ![]() |
